Tip of the Week

With fall just round the corner, striper fisherman everywhere are gearing up for their favorite time of year. As winter approaches, the fish realizing that food will soon become scarce, go on a feeding frenzy to prepare themselves for their long migration and the cold months ahead. Now is the time to go over your tackle in preparation for this time. Here are ten tips to help you enter the fall season with confidence.
1) Clean and oil reels.
2) Check rods/whippings/eyes/reel seat.
3) Use fresh mainline.
4) Use fresh leaders.
5) Replace rusty hooks with fresh.
6) Sharpen hooks, "sticky" sharp.
7) Check waders for leaks/mend.
8) Check your tackle box and replace missing items i.e.weights/lures.
9) Sharpen bait and filleting knives.
10) If you have one, check out your fishing log from last year and start setting in your mind where your campaign will begin. If not, follow the reports.

Your success during the fall run is based largely on your attention to detail BEFORE your line hits the water. Look after your gear and your gear will look after you! Especially when you need it most.
Happy Fishin'
